Option 1
Are you a full-time UIC undergraduate student who plans to take advantage of summer session to accelerate your progress towards a degree?
Take an additional course for free* during this summer (either in the 4- or 8-week sessions) if you register and pay for one of the following two courses:
MATH 110 or MATH 121
To qualify for this option, you must:
- Be a full-time UIC degree-seeking undergraduate student;
- Be eligible to register for the Summer 2019 term;
- Be a US citizen or permanent resident;
- Meet necessary prerequisites of the courses for which you plan to register in the summer;
* If eligible, the program will cover up to $1,600 of tuition, the equivalent of per credit hour fees for a 3 credit hour course, not to exceed your direct costs. Students are free to enroll in a 4 or 5 credit hours course instead. However, the tuition coverage remains the same and students are financially responsible to pay the difference. Space is limited therefore, awards will be granted to qualified students on a first come, first served basis.
The program is a collaboration among the Office of the Vice Provost for Undergraduate Affairs and Academic Programs, Vice Provost for Academic and Enrollment Services, and the Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships.

Yes, federal Pell Grant funding is available for Summer 2019
Yes, federal Pell Grant funding is available for Summer 2019 for eligible students and can be used to help pay the MATH 110 or MATH 121 course. Questions about financial aid should be directed to the Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships, (312) 996-3126.
Financial aid used in Summer 2019 does not affect student aid for the upcoming 2019-2020 academic year. However, summer Pell does count against student’s lifetime eligibility.

The program will cover the additional course only if you complete both courses.
The program will cover the cost of additional course only if you complete both courses. Students who withdraw from the MATH 110 or MATH 121, are effectively withdrawing from the program and, therefore, will be responsible for all tuition and fees incurred for the remaining course.
Important: Students who drop below five credit hours in the summer could lose Pell Grant eligibility for that semester. Before withdrawing, please contact the Office of Financial Aid to determine the impact on your specific Financial Aid package.
