Summer 2025 Info
The Office of the Vice Provost for Academic Programs and Effectiveness offers a limited number of awards to eligible students toward summer tuition and fees, enabling undergraduate students to earn credit hours towards graduation. If eligible, an invited student would register for at least 5 credit hours during the UIC Summer Session 1 (4-week session) and/or Summer Session 2 (8-week session) and receive a scholarship toward tuition and fees. Due to limited funds, awards will be granted to qualified students until funds are expended.

Yes. Eligible students will receive an email in early February with the link to the application form. Students will be notified via email whether they receive the scholarship. Yes, Federal Pell grant funding and loans (if applicable) are available for Summer.
The program will pay for one course only if you register for two Summer Session courses.
Students who drop below 5 credit hours by withdrawing from one of their summer courses before the end of the add/drop period of Summer Session 2 are effectively withdrawing from scholarship eligibility and will be responsible for all tuition and fees incurred for the remaining course.
Students who drop below 5 credit hours after the add/drop period will not be affected. Keep in mind that students may only use four Late Drops throughout their time at UIC and dropping courses can affect your status with financial aid.
Important: Students who drop below five credit hours in the summer could lose Pell Grant eligibility for that semester. More information may be obtained by contacting the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships to determine the impact on your specific Financial Aid package.
In general, no. You can take any two courses during Summer Session 1 and/or Summer Session 2.
There is no limit regarding the choice of undergraduate course(s) during Summer Session 1 (4-week session) and/or Summer Session 2 (8-week session), as long as the total credit hour reaches at least 5. Prerequisite or retake questions should be addressed by academic advisors.
The Accelerate Your Success award cannot be combined with other campus programs in which tuition is funded or waived (such as Break Through Tech, Summer Edge, etc.). Notification Timeline
Initial notifications of a decision for Summer 2025 will be emailed to all applicants at their UIC email starting March 17. If awardees are not able to meet all eligibility requirements, waitlisted applicants will be selected on an ongoing basis.
After applying, students should register for summer courses once their time ticket opens. If waitlisted, we recommend remaining registered for courses in case you are selected later. If you are not selected and no longer want to take courses, you can change your schedule without penalties by dropping courses before the add/drop deadline to award unwanted charges.
Eligibility Requirements
Not necessarily. Because notifications are designed to go out as early as possible, some students may still be working on meeting all eligibility requirements. If a student is accepted to the program but does not meet all the requirements, they will not be awarded the scholarship, and another waitlisted applicant will be selected.
The Accelerate Your Success scholarship cannot be combined with other UIC scholarship programs. If a student has been accepted to this program and decides to participate in another campus summer program in which tuition is funded or waived, they may no longer be eligible for Accelerate Your Success. We will contact any student whose award might be affected by participation in one of these programs.
