Post-Award Information
This page describes the process after initial awards have been offered to students who applied and have been accepted to the program.

Have you already filled out an application? You do NOT need to fill out the application again. If you reached the screen with a summary of your responses, your responses have been recorded and you have successfully completed the application (and should receive a copy of your responses in your UIC email.)
The courses listed on your original application do not determine your eligibility; we will review current course registrations in Banner to determine awardees. If you wish to withdraw your application, email summersuccess@uic.edu.
Initial notifications of awardees will be emailed to winners at their UIC emails starting April 22. Other eligible applicants will be placed on a waitlist. In case awardees are not able to meet all eligibility requirements, subsequent applicants will be selected on an ongoing basis from the waitlist.
After applying, students should register for summer courses. If not being selected requires you to alter your summer plans, you can change your schedule without penalties by dropping courses before the Add/Drop deadline for Summer Session 1 (May 15) so as not to be charged.

Eligibility requirements
Not necessarily. Because notifications are designed to go out as early as possible, some students may still be working on meeting all eligibility requirements. If a student is accepted to the program but does not meet all the requirements, they will not be awarded the scholarship, and, if possible, another applicant will be selected.
Also, in certain cases the Accelerate Your Success award cannot be combined with other UIC scholarship programs. If a student has been accepted to this program and decides to participate in another campus summer program in which tuition is funded or waived, they may no longer be eligible for Accelerate Your Success. We will contact any student whose award might be affected by participation in one of these programs.
Remember:
Maintain eligibility to register;
- You must be eligible to register for Summer 2024 with no holds impeding registration;
You must register for at least 5 credit hours in UIC Summer Session for Summer 2024;
- Those credit hours can be completed in Summer Session 1 only, Summer Session 2 only, or a combination of Summer Session 1 and 2;
Academic Progress Eligibility:
- You must remain eligible for financial aid and not have a Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) Cancellation in May 2024;
possibly
The amount you may owe will be based on your tuition and fees charges as well as any financial aid you may be eligible for.
You can find your financial aid information in your my.uic.edu portal.
To get a sense of what you will be charged, use our tuition estimator (we recommend you download the estimator file and then open it read-only to use).
Applied after June 14
Financial Aid awards may be processed prior to disbursement of the scholarship. All AYS awards will be processed after the final add/drop deadline for Summer Session 2 (June 14) to ensure that awardees meet all eligibility criteria.
After June 14
Between June 14 (the last day to add/drop courses for Summer Session 2) and June 28th (the day Summer tuition is due), we will review all awardees to ensure they meet all eligibility criteria (e.g., not subject to a SAP cancelation by Financial Aid; registered for a total of at least five credits in either Summer Session 1, Summer Session 2, or both; etc.). If you have maintained your eligibility, we will put the $2300 award on your student account. It may take a few weeks for you to see the award posted on your account.
Doesn't Matter
Because summer bills for courses in Summer Session 1, Summer Session 2, or both are all due on June 28th, it doesn’t matter during which part of Summer you are taking courses.
For more information, see Payment Due Dates – PAY MY BILL Home (uillinois.edu)
eventually, yes
Summer charges can be put on student accounts before they are due. The important part of the bill is the “Amount Due” section. For most students, unless you have an outstanding bill from Spring semester, your “Amount Due” will be $0 before the May 28th payment deadline and will only show an amount due for the June 28th bill and payment deadline.
if you're eligible
As long as you are eligible when we process awards (between June 14 and June 28), the $2300 will be put on your account. As the University Bursar’s webpage states:
University of Illinois policy on student account overpayments is as follows:
- Overpayments less than $5,000: Unless otherwise requested, University Bursar posts the full payment to the designated student’s account and holds the credit balance on the student account for 10-15 days then refunds the credit balance via direct deposit to the student’s designated bank account.
Ask Financial Aid
You will need to consult a Financial Aid Advisor. Financial Aid Advisors are responsible for providing financial aid support to students and their families. Advisors are available to discuss financial aid opportunities, eligibility requirements, and the application process. Advisors work as a team to resolve issues surrounding the delivery of their financial aid.
Financial Aid Advisors are available to you in several ways: You may contact them by phone or email or stop by the office to meet with an advisor in reception. Financial Aid is located in the Student Services Building (SSB) Suite 1800; they are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. The typical wait time is between five and fifteen minutes. You may also schedule a meeting with your assigned Financial Aid Advisor by clicking the “Schedule Appointment” button in the Online Meetings area of iAdvise.

At this point, you should presume that you will NOT be awarded a scholarship and adjust your plans accordingly (e.g., deciding to pay out-of-pocket, dropping courses, etc.).

we'll contact you
You will be notified and given an opportunity to register for more courses so that you meet the eligibility of at least five credits.
Only if you're registered

you get a refund
